It has been a couple of months since my last blog post and I guess the best thing I can say is that I've been processing. Processing my vision for what I want to do and who I want to be, not only as a Life Coach but as a person walking around in this physical plane of existence we call Earth. Two concepts that most accurately describe my recent experiences are Alchemy and Catharsis. Both concepts have many definitions, yet I've combined them to create my own relevant definitions, ones that work for me. I encourage others to do the same.
Alchemy is defined as a magical power or process of transmuting a common substance, usually of little value, into a substance of great value. To put it in human terms, alchemy is a means to transform the human soul from its base (lead) state to its enlightened and eternal state (gold). I believe my process of alchemy has just begun in many ways, yet I am inspired by my personal progress in recognizing my unique 'gold' - the qualities and expressions of my true Higher Self. And within this recognition, I find that the things about myself that I thought were of little value have turned out to be the things that cause the most dramatic 'Ah Ha' moments, and thus become of greatest value to me. Catharsis is defined as a purifying release of the emotions and of tension by bringing repressed material to consciousness. "Catharsis involves the upheaval, intensification and release of familiar or habitual mental, emotional and physical patterns operating from the unconscious parts of the mind. The end result is a new way of seeing and experiencing 'what is', and a reorganization of the brain at a new and more evolved level - one that allows a greater perception and experience of the infinite number of connections making up our true nature as the one energy of all and everything." (Bill Harris, Manifesting Evolutionary Growth) For those who know me well, life has given me some interesting challenges to overcome and lessons to learn. I don't believe I'm unique in this, yet it is something of which I am keenly aware. By merely admitting to myself, my ego, that I need to allow myself to release the emotions and repressed material I've been carrying around with me for years, there is a feeling of peace. I am coming to terms with the different parts of my Self, the parts I like and don't like so much, and in the process I am finding so much more to love, about myself and others. I find the connection between our conscious (ego-based) and subconscious (intuitive, emotion-based) minds to be a fascinating subject. Our conscious mind consists of all of our thoughts - the random, the logical, the beliefs we hold to be true, the thoughts that make us happy or sad, and the daily tasks we perform. Our subconscious mind deals with the creative, the intuitive, the perfection of our Higher Self, our divinity, and all of the bodily functions that happen that we are not consciously aware of (we don't tell ourselves to inhale and exhale, our subconscious mind takes care of that for us). Our subconscious mind stores all of our memories and our feelings from past events and even traumas, it literally remembers everything about us from the day we emerge into existence. And the super cool thing about that is, we can chose to access and change this stored information anytime we want. The consequence being that we can re-program our conscious and subconscious minds to literally build the life we've always wanted! The subconscious mind takes direct instruction from our conscious thoughts, this happens automatically. In other words, if you think to yourself "I'm overweight", your subconscious mind will take that as 'truth' and take action based on that 'truth', causing your body to respond with continuing to be overweight no matter what material methods you employ. Whatever we claim mentally and feel as true, our subconscious mind will accept and bring forth into our experience. So your subconscious mind is an incredibly powerful tool, it does whatever you tell it to do. Harnessing this power and creating positive experiences with it is key. Training your conscious (ego) mind to think and feel in ways that lead you towards the highest version of your authentic self (stored in your subconscious mind) requires some concentrated focus. The conscious mind (ego) does not give up control easily, it resists and blames and creates distractions to keep us confused and stuck. But by integrating daily practices into your life, you can start the process of healing through speaking the language of your subconscious mind. Meditation helps this healing process happen, as does tapping into your energy flow or qi, and creating new neural pathways for your brain waves to travel. Integrating daily affirmations into your routine also helps. Yet it goes beyond just repeating positive affirmations in your conscious mind (remember, the conscious mind ego wants to resist all change). You have to feel those affirmations in your core, truly believe them, in order for your subconscious mind to take action on the positive affirmation. Your subconscious mind has its own language and learning that language can be of tremendous benefit to your progress. A resource for learning to 'speak' the language of your subconscious mind, and thus start the process of deep, integrative healing in your life, is found in a book called Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol Kuhn Truman. This is a great book that introduces a tool called 'The Script'. The Script is an easy, powerful, and direct tool that one can use to heal the repressed material we all carry around with us, and give one a new perspective on life and what it means to truly BE living. Check it out! For me, this has been a summer of awakening, release, renewal, and tremendous growth. Awakening to my higher self, my true potential, and how I am going to choose to live my life on every level from this day forward has been an awesome process. I am eternally grateful to the people and modalities that have guided me along my journey thus far. And I encourage everyone that this newsletter touches to reach inside of themselves and ponder how the processes of alchemy and catharsis may apply in healing their own lives. |
